PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine capable of stably holding a button and preventing breakage by the collision of adjacent buttons with each other even when finishing in the specification of slightly overlapping the end parts of the buttons at the cuffs of a suit or the like with each other and sewing them. SOLUTION: The button sewing machine includes a cloth holding means 60 for holding a cloth, a button holding means 40 for holding the button to be sewed to the cloth, and an XY direction feed means for moving the cloth holding means and the button holding means in the XY direction so as to sew the button to the cloth by the stitches of a prescribed sewing pattern, and a recessed part adjacent to a pinhole is formed on a sewing machine bed B.
