PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for eliminating nonuniformity in the axial direction of density of a package. SOLUTION: A traverse control part 80 of this traverse device 34 has a position-speed pattern forming part 60 for supplying a position-speed pattern being the relationship between a position of a yarn guide 33 and a travel speed of the yarn guide 33 in its position, a target speed calculating part 61 for calculating a target travel speed of the yarn guide 33 based on the position-speed pattern supplied by the position-speed pattern forming part 60 and a present position of the yarn guide 33 detected by an encoder 49, and a driving control means for controlling operation of a yarn guide driving means based on the travel speed calculated by the target speed calculating part 61.
