PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a complete-cycle method for protecting glassware from corrosion in automatic dishwashing appliances. SOLUTION: The complete-cycle method comprises (a) a step to provide a through-the-wash detergent composition containing an active amount of a granular zinc-containing material, (b) a step to provide a rinse aid composition containing an active amount of at least one metal salt, (c) a step to contact a surface of the glassware with the through-the-wash detergent composition and (d) a step to contact the surface of the glassware with the rinse aid composition in a rinsing cycle, wherein the rinse aid composition has a pH of <5 determined in an aqueous solution at a concentration of 10%.
