<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide improved systems and methods for detecting computer viruses, worms, other computer attacks and or arbitrary any other data that can repeatedly pass over a network. <P>SOLUTION: The methods include: receiving data via an electronic network; segmenting the data into a plurality of data items; separating one data item out of the plurality of data items to obtain a selected data item; processing the selected data item according to a first processing technique to obtain first characteristic metrics; processing the selected data item according to a second processing technique to obtain second characteristic metrics; combining the first metrics and the second metrics to obtain a selected aggregate thumbprint; and comparing the aggregate thumbprint with a plurality of aggregate thumbprints stored in a library. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
