PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide diagnostic assays for detecting the nucleic acids of any or all of hepatitis B virus (HBV), human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1), and hepatitis C virus (HCV). SOLUTION: There are provided: a capture oligonucleotide composition that includes oligonucleotide comprising an HBV complementary sequence and a solid support comprising a paramagnetic particle; and a method for detecting the HBV nucleic acids by means of a combination of primers including at least two amplification oligomers and a probe used for detection reaction.
