PURPOSE: An afterimage prevention display device and a method thereof are provided to prevent an afterimage phenomenon in advance by disconnecting a display screen. CONSTITUTION: An image output part(106) displays an image. A video processing part(104) processes the received video signal. The video processing part generates an image capable of being displayed from the video processing part. A timer(110) counts the display time of a still picture. A controller(111) disconnects a display screen.
