PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To segment connected components of markings found in a document image.SOLUTION: The method for segmenting includes a process 404 for detecting aligned text. From the detected material, an aligned text mask 408 is generated, and used in processing of the images 402. The processing includes segmenting connected components in the document images 402 into smaller fragments by detecting and segregating the connected components and fragments thereof likely to belong to the aligned text. |
