The device (10) has a focused heat source (12) i.e. heatable graphite tip or laser beam, for separating a region of a sheet to be released, where hardness of the heat source is smaller than that of a surface of a work piece so that the heat source does not penetrate into the surface of the work piece. The heat source is in connection with a heating cartridge (14), and an adjusting unit adjusts the heat source for heat emission at the sheet. The adjusting unit has a spring (17) or is formed as the spring. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a sheet releasing system comprising a sheet releasing device (2) a method for releasing a region of a sheet.
