摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size and thickness of an imaging optical system by optimizing arrangement relation between the exit surface of a reflection prism and the light receiving surface of an imaging element. SOLUTION: The imaging optical system 100 is provided with an imaging side prism 102 for bending incident light at about 90°for reflection and an imaging element 105 having a light receiving surface arranged on the exit surface 102b. Arrangement relation between the exit surface 102b of the imaging side prism 102 and the imaging element is set to satisfy the relation of an expression (1): 0.0≤d/a<0.8, where it is defined that (d) represents a distance between the exist surface 102b and the light receiving surface of the imaging element 105 and (a) represents the height of the light receiving surface of the imaging element 105 on a plane where the optical path of the imaging optical system 100 is folded (e.g. in the shorter side direction of the imaging element).
