The unit (1) has a housing comprising two housing parts (3, 4) that are connected with each other by screws (5), adhesive bonding or welding. An inflow opening (10) enables a fluid to flow into an interior part of the unit, and an outflow opening (8) enables the fluid to flow from the interior part along a flow direction (11). An elastic damping cushion (20) receives pressure energy of the in-flowing fluid, and is arranged in the interior part between the inflow opening and the outflow opening. The damping cushion is filled with gas such as air or nitrogen, and comprises an elastomer wall. An independent claim is also included for a pump comprising a crank gear housing.
