370,533. Thermostats. STEWART, A. W., 150, Helen Street, Govan, Glasgow. Jan. 22, 1931, No. 2151. [Class 135.] A thermostat is adjusted from a distance by an electrically-operated movement, and a variable resistance controlled by the movement is in circuit with an ammeter at the control point whereby the setting of the thermostat is indicated. A thermostat 1 is adjusted by levers 5, 6 carrying pawls 7 engaging a ratchet wheel 4 which operates the thermostat through gearing 3, 2. The levers 5, 6 are actuated selectively from a remote point by electromagnets 8, 8<1>, when switches 14 or 15 are closed according to the direction in which the thermostat is to be adjusted. A variable resistance 11 controlled by the thermostat movement is in series with an ammeter 12 which is caused to register to indicate the thermostat setting, by closing a switch 16. A variable resistance 18 is provided by which the apparatus may be adjusted to suit the supply voltage. The thermostat may be adjusted locally by hand by rotating the ratchet wheel 4 and may control a relay 23 to operate valves. Means may be provided whereby the apparatus may be connected to any one of a number of thermostats.
|
