SET TOP BOX VERSION UPGRADE METHOD AND SYSTEM

A set top box version upgrade method is disclosed in the present invention, wherein the method comprises the following steps: an IPTV set top box initiates a version upgrade, and judges whether to adopt a multicast upgrade mode to perform the version upgrade, if not, downloads and analyses the upgrade configuration file in an upgrade server; if the upgrade configuration file comprises a multicast upgrade address and the multicast upgrade can be implemented, the IPTV set top box adopts the multicast upgrade mode to perform the version upgrade; if the upgrade configuration file doesn't comprise the multicast upgrade address, the IPTV set top box adopts a hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) upgrade mode to perform the version upgrade. Accordingly, a set top box version upgrade device is also disclosed in the present invention, wherein the device comprises an upgrade server and an IPTV set top box. Therefore, the present invention can improve the version upgrade speed of the IPTV set top box, and save network resources.
