<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an automatic transmission, in which reverse inhibition control can be achieved by means of a structure which does not employ a cut-off valve, even if a detection unit 7 that detects a shift range selected by a shift selection unit 6 fails. <P>SOLUTION: When a fault identification means 10 determines that the detection unit 7 for detecting a shift range selected by a shift selection unit 6 fails, a diversion means 12 sends an instruction to an automatic transmission means 9 for shift to a forward gear stage that is not engaged with a first frictional engagement engages with a predetermined forward stage and a reverse gear change stage. Thereby, a reverse gear change stage is prevented from being formed even if the reverse range is inadvertently selected when the detection unit 7 fails. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
