<p>A variable process and apparatus for treating wastewater is disclosed. The process includes the steps of: a) monitoring the volume of the wastewater received in a first operational area over a period of time; b) determining a transfer volume based on the volume of the wastewater received in the first operational area over the period of time; c) determining a transfer time based on when the volume of the wastewater is received in the first operational area over the period of time; d) transferring a batch of wastewater if the volume of the wastewater in the first operational area is at least equal to the transfer volume at the transfer time, where the batch of the wastewater has a volume equal to the transfer volume, and is transferred from the first operational area to a reaction area that includes an amount of microorganisms; e) aerates the batch of wastewater transferred to the reaction area, where the aeration continues for a predetermined amount of time, based on the volume of the batch of wastewater and the amount of microorganisms in the reaction area; f) clarifies the batch of wastewater transferred to the reaction area, were the clarification continues for a predetermined amount of time, based on the amount of microorganisms in the reaction area; g) disperses the treated batch of wastewater from the reaction area.</p> |
