<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an optimal symbol timing position and frequency offset of a received multicarrier modulated signal without using a special signal for synchronization detection. <P>SOLUTION: A synchronization detection unit 5 generates a correlation signal between a reference signal to be obtained by modulating only a pilot signal and a received signal, and detects the peak of its absolute value to estimate symbol timing. In addition, the synchronization detection unit 5 sets a complex conjugate value of the reference signal to be obtained by modulating only the pilot signal as a filter coefficient by symbol to generate a correlation signal by being synchronized with the estimated symbol timing, and roughly estimates the frequency offset by detecting a phase rotation amount between symbols. In addition, the synchronization detection unit 5 accurately estimates the frequency offset by detecting a phase rotation amount between frames.
