PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for measuring height by recognizing a face are provided to calculate the height of a user by using an image of the user who stands at a remote place photographed by a camera. CONSTITUTION: A camera unit(106) generates an image by photographing the front. A controller(104) calculates the height of a subject by using an eye position-height map from the height of eyes. The controller receives a measurement starting signal and then transmits the photograph message to the camera unit. A height display unit(108) receives the height from the controller and visually and audibly displays the height. A measurement starting unit(102) senses the pressed state of a foothold(101) and generates a measurement starting signal.
