<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent different image information displayed simultaneously with an OSD (on-screen display) image from being hidden by the OSD image not to be viewed easily. <P>SOLUTION: In this method of controlling video display, a background image is provided on a main screen (ST10), an on-screen display image is displayed in a first on-screen display position on the main screen (ST26), and an image (Widget image) different from the on-screen display image is displayed in a different image display position located on the main screen and overlapping the first on-screen display position.
