PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for measuring surely and highly accurately paneling strength of a can body. SOLUTION: When the paneling strength of the can body is measured, after putting the can body whose paneling strength is to be measured into a chamber, and pressurizing the inside of the chamber to buckle the can body, while measuring the pressure inside the chamber and detecting acoustic emission generated when the can is buckled, the inside of the chamber is pressurized to increase the pressure inside the chamber, and a measured value of the pressure inside the chamber corresponding to a time when the acoustic emission is detected is determined, and the paneling strength of the can body is determined based on the pressure.
