PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound rudder of simple structure capable of making a small turning circle. SOLUTION: The compound rudder 1 comprises: a main rudder 5 being fixed on a rudder shaft 4 for turning operation within a level plane; a small-turning rudder 6 provided right behind the main rudder 5 so that the rudder 6 turns within a level plane in conjunction with the turning movement of the main rudder 5. The compound rudder further comprises a slide bar 12 whose one end is fixed on the top of the shaft of a small rudder shaft 11 that supports the small-turning rudder 6, and a pivot 13 rotatable within a level plane, pivotally provided at the bottom of the stern between the rudder shaft 4 and small rudder shaft 11 so that the other end of the slide bar 12 is guided slidably. The small-turning rudder 6 has its front end separated away from the rear end of the main rudder 5 when the main rudder 5 is started for turning. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
