<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen production system in which no problem is created when hydrogen is used as a combustion improver in an ammonia engine. <P>SOLUTION: The hydrogen production system includes: an ammonia decomposition zone 2 in which ammonia is decomposed in the presence of an ammonia decomposition catalyst to produce hydrogen; an ammonia oxidation zones 3 disposed on an upstream side and a downstream side of the ammonia decomposition zone, in which ammonia is oxidized in the presence of an ammonia oxidation catalyst; and valve mechanisms 5 which invert a flow of ammonia. According to the invention, a hydrogen production operation can be continuously performed over a long period of time by repeating two or more times a cycle comprising a step wherein the raw material gas is supplied for a predetermined time to the upstream-side ammonia oxidation zone 4→the ammonia decomposition zone 2→the downstream-side ammonia oxidation zone 3 (or to the downstream-side ammonia oxidation zone 3→the ammonia decomposition zone 2→the upstream-side ammonia oxidation zone 4) and a subsequent step wherein the supply of the raw material gas to the zones is stopped. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
