Disclosed is the use of a compound selected from brimonidine, naphazoline, oxymetazoline, xylometazoline, norepinephrine and methoxamine, pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof or combinations thereof, for topical administration to treat or prevent an inflammatory skin disorder. More generally disclosed is the use of alpha 2 andrenoceptor agonists to treat inflammatory skin conditions.
