PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high space factor of coil end parts near the core end face so as to reduce the damages occurring during assembling. SOLUTION: A stator coil 20 is configured, in a manner where a unit wave winding coil 21 is circumferentially and alternately formed and wound by one turn so as to meander a coil side part 21a, inserted into a slot 14 of a stator core 11, and coil end parts 21b, 21c protruding from the axial end face of the stator core 11. A plurality of unit wave winding coils are formed in a radial direction and continuously. The coil side part 21a of another unit wave winding coil 21, adjacent to the outer peripheral side of one unit wave winding coil 21, is longer than the coil side part 21a of the one unit wave winding coil 21. The diameter of a circle drawn by the coil end part 21b at one end of the coil side part 21a is different from that of a circle drawn by the coil end part 21c at the other end. The stator coil manufacturing method is so conducted as to encircle a wire 17, by alternately winding the wire around a first locking member and a second locking member, while the wire is meandered.
