PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide composite magnesium oxide particles effective as an enhancer or activator of pancreatic function, i.e. prophylactic or therapeutic agent for pancreatic diseases. SOLUTION: The composite magnesium oxide particles represented by formula (1): (Mg2+)1-x(Zn2+)xO (wherein x is 0.0001-0.20) are produced by adding a trace amount of Zn when producing a magnesium oxide particle.
