The positioning device comprises a drilling unit (5) and a support plate (10) for a jaw model (8) which is mounted in an intended implant position by a servomotor (1). An upper support plate (4) of the drilling unit, lies on the support pins over three contact areas (9). The support pins fit in the bores. An independent claim is also included for a method for positioning the dental implants.
