The device has an end fitting (10) with an intermediate section comprising a spring unit (30) whose support surface (36) is distinct from suspension elements (26) of the section. The end fitting has an upper section (12) with housings (14, 16) for receiving an end of a slat and an end of another slat. The spring unit is only connected to the upper section or a lower section (18) of the end fitting. Contact walls (40) of the elements are remote from the spring unit when the end fitting is at rest, and mechanically coupled with the support surface when pressure is applied on the end fitting.
