<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of an optical disk device that power consumption in a laser driver is increased by reduction of a laser driving voltage upon temperature rising, temperature rising of a near laser is caused, deterioration of laser emitting characteristics and deterioration of recording characteristics caused thereby are generated, the laser driver does not correspond to the change of the laser driving voltage with passage of time and the service life of the laser is shortened by increase of the laser driving voltage. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical disk device, temperature in the vicinity of the laser is obtained, and voltage of a power source of the laser driver is controlled so that power consumption in a head room is minimized without spoiling current driving characteristics in the head room of the laser driver 205 upon temperature increase. A laser driving current of the laser driver is monitored and the voltage of the power supply of the laser driver is controlled so that power consumption in the head room is minimized while the current driving characteristics in the head room in this current is secured. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
