PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet conveying device and a sheet processing device, simply performing restoration work to be performed after conveyance abnormality or the like of a sheet material in a short time. SOLUTION: While a space for taking out a document D' is sufficiently secured by substantially pushing down a document placement plate 201 by a pressing means 205, a separation pad 213 is retreated from a feed roller 211 by pushing down the separation pad 213 forming a bias means opposed to the feed roller 211 at the end of the document placement plate 201 responsively to a pushing-down movement of the document placement plate 201.
