PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink ribbon cartridge which can be mounted on the cartridge mounting section of an existing printer apparatus, and also can further increase the number of windings of an ink ribbon over those in an ink ribbon cartridge in the past. SOLUTION: The ink ribbon cartridge includes: the ink ribbon 10; a supply spool 11; a winding spool 12; and a cartridge body 13 which has a supply-side ribbon housing section 31, a winding-side ribbon housing section 32 and a head entry opening portion 33 where the ink ribbon 10 extends. In the cartridge body 13, the supply-side ribbon housing section 31 is formed such that a portion having a width approximately corresponding to the width of the ink ribbon 10 is thicker than both end portions 31a, and in the supply-side ribbon housing section 31, an opening portion 37 having a width approximately corresponding to the width of the ink ribbon 10 wound around the supply spool 11 is formed in an approximately vertical portion in the vicinity of the supply-side ribbon opening portion 34.
