PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading system and image reading apparatus which has a low load of image processing and aligns directions of image information. SOLUTION: An MFP (Multi Function Peripheral) 100 sequentially reads image information of a plurality of documents, then determines directions of images of the documents and records information of the directions. Further, as a tendency for the direction of image information of the document, one direction that appears frequently is determined as a specific document direction. A document whose direction is different from the specific document direction is then extracted and an image of the document is inverted to be aligned in the specific document direction.
