PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent at low cost a driving mechanism from being exposed to a place touched by a user, without using an interlock device. SOLUTION: This paper feeder is detachably arranged in an image forming device body, and is arranged in the vicinity of a paper feeding cassette 4 for storing paper, and carries the paper in the device body, and is substantially parallel in the attaching-detaching direction of the paper feeding cassette to the paper carrying direction, and has a body side driving force transmitting part 9b arranged on the device body side and a paper feeding cassette side driving force transmitting part 9a arranged on the paper feeding cassette side and attached-detached in response to attachment-detachment to the device body of the paper feeding cassette. The body side driving force transmission part 9b has an inserting-extracting mechanism 20 covered with a covering member 15 forming an opening 17 for inserting the paper feeding cassette side driving force transmitting part 9a and insetting-extracting the paper feeding cassette side driving force transmitting part 9a from the opening 17.
