PURPOSE: An image display device implementing two dimensional image and three dimensional image is provided to minimize the reduction of the brightness when implementing the two dimensional image and improve the visibility of the 2D image and the 3D image. CONSTITUTION: An image display device implements a 2D image or a 3D image. A driving circuit applies the data voltage of a 2D data format for the 2D image or the data voltage of a 3D data format for the 3D image. A controller controls the driving circuit in a driving method of 2D mode or 3D mode. A pattern retarder is arranged in the front of the image display panel.
