PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a corrosion-resistant conductive member, especially a metal separator for fuel cell, comprising a metal base and a noble metal thin film formed thereon, the thin film having very few pinholes, being dense in the film quality and being excellent in adhesiveness to the metal base and, therefore, being durable against severe usage environment.
SOLUTION: As one embodiment, in the member produced by forming the thin film of noble metal having a thickness of 100 nm or less on the surface of stainless steel, the amounts of impurities existing in a noble metal layer and a middle layer between the base and the noble metal layer are respectively regulated to be C:1.5% or less, P:1.5% or less, O:1.5% or less, S:1.5% or less and C+P+O+S:4.0% or less. Contaminated coated films existing on the surface of the base are removed by physical and (or) chemical methods to expose a clean surface and, thereafter immediately, a noble metal coated film is formed by electrical plating or the like, prior to recontamination of the surface.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
