DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF CANCER USING ANTI-TMPRSS11E ANTIBODY

Disclosed is a novel means for treating and diagnosing cancer. A monoclonal antibody against TMPRSS11E is obtained. The antibody can bind to the native form of TMPRSS11E. It is found by a flow cytometry that TMPRSS11E can be expressed at a high level on cell membranes of a cancer cell line. The antibody exhibits an antibody-dependent cytotoxic activity (an ADCC activity) and an anti-tumor effect through an internalizing activity thereof, and is therefore a promising target of therapy. The antibody also has an activity of neutralizing a protease activity, and is therefore expected to have an inhibitory activity on the function of TMPRSS11E.
