PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet processor capable of preventing wasted time, regardless of the sheet length and of attaining high processing efficiency, even when sheets having various sheet lengths are processed. SOLUTION: Paper sheets taken out by a take-out device 10 so as to keep a fixed interval (Lk) between the paper sheets are conveyed at a constant speed, a plurality of conveyance sensors for detecting the paper sheets are placed in a midstream part of the conveyance path, and the paper sheet conveyance speed is calculated. Based on the conveyance speed calculated, arrival time for tips of the paper sheets to reach an impeller is calculated. Meanwhile, a rotation detecting device 120 detects the rotation of the impeller 100 and grasps the position of each blade F1 to F8 of the impeller 100. The rotation speed of the impeller 100 is controlled, based on the measured arrival time and the position of each blade F1 to F8 so that the paper sheets are stored properly in the impeller 100.
