FIELD: chemistry. ^ SUBSTANCE: method of producing photonic-crystal fibre (PCF) relates to production of optical waveguides based on nanotechnology used in fibre-optic communication systems and optoelectronics for transmitting and processing information. The method of producing photonic-crystal fibre involves preparing one-, two- and three-dimensional photonic-crystal lattices of different sizes, including nanosized lattices, through exposure to streams of slow neutrons with strictly predetermined geometry of exposed sections of the workpiece which is made from a homogeneous chemical substance, mainly silicon dioxide, in order to change its isotopic composition and attain required optical properties. The workpiece is exposed using a special centralised apparatus consisting of several irradiators, the number of which is equal to the number of rods in the photonic-crystal fibres lying on the diametre of the workpiece at distances from each other corresponding to the position of the rods in the fibre. The irradiators form beams of slow neutrons with strictly predetermined parametres. ^ EFFECT: simplification of the technological process and more accurate production of separate elements of the photonic-crystal fibre, which has significant effect on quality characteristics of the fibre. ^ 8 dwg |
