PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing calcium carbonate slurry, the calcium carbonate slurry of high concentration which can be used as a pigment for coated paper and has excellent dispersibility, a coating liquid and the coated paper obtained by using the coating liquid. SOLUTION: The calcium carbonate slurry of high concentration having excellent dispersibility, the coating liquid and a method for producing the coated paper by using the coating liquid are provided. The calcium carbonate slurry is characterized in that a dispersant for dispersing pigments by steric hindrance effects of side chains branched from a main chain thereof is used.
