PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a master carrier for magnetic transfer in which a transfer signal has a high quality by suppressing unnecessary magnetization reversal on the side of initialization and to provide a method of manufacturing the master carrier for magnetic transfer without deterioration of an yield. SOLUTION: In the master carrier for magnetic transfer, the surface of a master substrate 42 includes a concave/convex pattern formed by arraying a plurality of convex portions with reference to the surface. In addition, at least the surfaces of the convex portions have a magnetic layer 48 in the master carrier. The ratio of the height H of a convex portion to the curvature radius R of the corner of the top side of the convex portion [(R/H)×100] is≤20%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
