PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid jet apparatus capable of adjusting a jet distance of a fluid, and also swiftly changing between cleaning processing and recording processing while preventing maintenance failure. SOLUTION: An inkjet printer 1 with a recording head 6 for jetting ink from a nozzle formation face 21A provided with a plurality of nozzles 17 for jetting ink onto a recording sheet P includes: a platen 81 which comprises part of a conveyance path for supporting the recording sheet P to convey it; a cap member 71 which is disposed opposite to the recording head 6 and can abut on the nozzle formation face 21A so as to surround the plurality of nozzles 17; a first platen shift device 8 for shifting the platen 81 between a shielding position that interrupts between the recording head 6 and the cap member 71, and a non-shielding position that retracts from the shielding position; and a second platen shift device 9 for shifting the platen 81 in a direction opposite to the recording head 6.
