<p>The invention relates to a beam structure (40) to be used in web monitoring or defect detection and to be placed in the vicinity of a movable web (51) in the transverse direction, for example, in relation to a paper or cardboard machine, to support at least one functional element used in the web monitoring. The beam structure (40) comprises at least two carbon fibre composite beam modules (10) with a monolithic profile, their longitudinal side comprising an installation opening (12) for at least one functional element. The beam modules (10) can be installed one after the other in the longitudinal direction, wherein each beam module (10) constitutes a part of the uniform beam structure (40) so that the installation openings (12) of the beam modules (10) are aligned in the beam structure (40).
