PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional developing device, wherein the leading side edge of the cloth piece is largely inclined to the wide direction of the conveyer, when a cloth piece is held with the chucks of a two position-holding device and then put on an edging conveyer, and held depths are liable to be unbalanced, when two positions of the leading side edge of the cloth piece are then held with the chucks. SOLUTION: In a process for developing a cloth piece Y such as towel, the corner edge-holding chuck 71 and central position-holding chuck 72 of the two position-holding device 7 are opened in such an opening timing that the corner edge-holding chuck 71 is opened at a later time by a prescribed time than that of the central position-holding chuck 72, and the whole cloth piece is put on the edging conveyer 8, so that the prescribed length range of the leading side edge Yb of the cloth piece Y put on the edging conveyer 8 appears in approximately parallel to the width direction of the edging conveyer 8.
