PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition that has high fluidity on thin-film molding in a mold, inhibits color changes of a molded piece when exposed to heat and does not corrode a metal when formed into a flame-retarded composition. SOLUTION: The resin composition comprises an aromatic polyamide comprised of a dicarboxylic acid unit (a) containing 60-100 mol% of a terephthalic acid unit, a diamine unit (b) containing 60-100 mol% of the total of a 1,9-nonamethylenediamine unit (b-1) and/or a 2-methyl-1,8-octamethylenediamine unit (b-2), polyphenylene ether and a compatibilizer for the aromatic polyamide and the polyphenylene ether, where the content of components having a molecular weight of not more than 30,000 is at least 60 mass% and the content of components having a molecular weight of not more than 3,000 is at most 5 mass% in the polyphenylene ether in the resin composition.
