PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of solving the problem of producing air bubbles in a liquid crystal layer due to stresses. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device (100) has: a liquid crystal cell (120) having a first plastic substrate (102), a second plastic substrate (108), and the liquid crystal layer (105) sealed between the first and second plastic substrates; a substrate (140) planarly facing the liquid crystal cell; and a buffer layer (130) for fixing the liquid crystal cell and the substrate by bonding or adhering to them, and for absorbing a difference of deformation between the liquid crystal cell and the substrate.
