PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tunnel luminaire promoting energy saving and improving the visual environment. SOLUTION: A tunnel entrance lighting system is constituted of tunnel luminaires 10a, 10b, ... for basic illumination and tunnel luminaires 20a, 20b for improving visibility. In particular, the tunnel luminaires 20a, 20b for improving visibility are disposed in sections such as boundary parts in a tunnel T and are quite different from the tunnel luminaires 10a, 10b, ... for basic illumination in that light distribution peaks thereof greatly extend in forward and backward directions of the road axis and are directed not toward a roadway but toward a sidewalk.
