PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable displacement vane pump with suppressed occurrence of cavitation by improving suction efficiency. SOLUTION: The variable displacement vane pump includes a low pressure supply passage constantly connecting the other side out of a first fluid pressure chamber and a second fluid pressure chamber to a suction passage, a low pressure introduction port formed on the other side out of a pressure plate and a rear body and opened on the other side out of the first fluid pressure chamber and the second fluid pressure chamber, and a low pressure introduction passage formed on the other side out of a pump body and the rear body and communicating the low pressure introduction port with a suction side vane back pressure groove. A recessed part is provided on the inner periphery of an adapter ring to be recessed toward the outer peripheral side of the adapter ring. The recessed part is provided further on the second fluid pressure chamber side than the first fluid pressure chamber side and sandwiching a seal member sealing the first fluid pressure chamber and the second fluid pressure chamber.
