<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a selection return device with high moderation feeling of shift lever operation, reducing resistance relative to the operation and enhancing shift feeling. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a first selection return mechanism 3, load applied to the shift lever is higher than a second selection return mechanism 4 at least neutral position and in a standing-up range A on one side in a selection direction. The second selection return mechanism 4 urges the shift lever 1 under a lower load than the case where the shift lever 1 is positioned on the other side in the selection direction when it is positioned in the standing-up range A on one side in the selection direction. When the shift lever 1 is positioned in the standing-up range A on one side in the selection direction, a synthetic load applied to the shift lever 1 becomes a load obtained by reducing the low load that the second selection return mechanism 4 is applied to the shift lever 1 from the high load that the first selection return mechanism 3 is applied to the shift lever 1.
