<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve precision of a failure prediction, in an image forming apparatus that predicts the failure of a conveying mechanism according to a time taken to convey paper used for image formation and output. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 capable of determining deterioration of the conveying mechanism includes: a timing sensor for detecting paper; a timing sensor control section 121 for acquiring information about a conveying time which is taken to convey the paper; a media sensor control section 122 for acquiring information about the thickness of the conveyed paper; an environment sensor control section 123 for acquiring information about temperature and humidity; and an aging deterioration determining section 126 for determining deterioration of the conveying mechanism on the basis of the acquired information about the conveying time.
