<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device in which cooling air can be made to easily flow to a bulb, and the bulb can be efficiently cooled, and a projector. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The light source device 60 is provided with an arc tube 80 having a bulb 81 in which a pair of electrodes 84, 85 arranged along the lighting optical axis L are built and a pair of sealing parts 82, 83 which extend to both sides of the bulb 81, a reflector 70 which is installed at one of sealing part 82 side of the arc tube 80 and reflects luminous flux emitted from the arc tube 80 toward the illumination region side, and a side mirror 100 which is installed at the other sealing part 83 side so as to cover the outer face on illumination region side of the bulb 81 and reflects the luminous flux from the arc tube 80 to the arc tube 80.
