<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in a submerged bearing used in various types of equipment such as a water treatment facility and not having a water seal wherein abrasion rapidly progresses due to influence of suspended particles and it is necessary to carry out replacement comparatively frequently even though other portions of the equipment are in good condition, and this is caused by fast progress of abrasion due to intrusion of muddy particles in water into a sliding part of a submerged shaft and the bearing, and the particles acting as an abrasive. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The sliding part of the submerged shaft has a hardness of HRC 50 or more, and minute substantially arc shaped countless uneven part forms are formed on a surface by carrying out machining by a method of spraying particles with particle diameters of 30-200 μm at a high speed of about 200 m/s by an air pressure of 0.3-0.5 MPa. By combining the submerged shaft and the bearing, since protruding part tips of an uneven part abut on the bearing, ambient water becomes screen-like throughout a whole when infiltrating an interior from a bearing end, the water prevents intrusion of the suspended particles even though the water infiltrates the interior, and by this, abrasion of the bearing and the shaft due to the suspended particles is prevented.
