PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of smoothing the surface of a metal linear object by polishing the surface of the metal linear objects such as metal wire material and bar material. SOLUTION: In the method, a band-like grinding sheet 20 is helically wound around the periphery of the metal linear body 10 a plurality of times from a direction intersecting with the metal liner body 10. In this state, the grinding sheet 20 is made to rotatedly travel while the metal linear body 10 is made to travel in one direction. The surface of the metal linear object is ground by contact between the grinding surface of the grinding sheet 20 and the periphery of the metal linear body 10. Thus, a satisfactory grinding effect is obtained with a simple structure in a short processing time without causing seizure in a die and using any chemical material. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
