PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a sense of incongruity a driver may feel in an avoiding control. SOLUTION: A control unit 13 calculates a value found by subtracting a steering angle correction amount and an operation angle speed correction amount from a steering angleθ<SB>next</SB>and a steering angle speedω<SB>next</SB>at the time when a steering operation is switched to a self-steering control as a target steering and a target steering angle speed at the time when the steering operation by the driver is switched to the self-steering operation, to calculate a time on an avoidance steering pattern, at which the calculated target steering angle and the target steering angle speed are obtained. Then, the control unit 13 executes a steering control to avoid its own vehicle from contacting an obstacle according to avoidance steering patterns from the calculated time.
